BEST SWISS SHORT COMPETITION

Short films are distinguished by their independence, creativity and courage in moving the boundaries of cinematic expression. But very importantly, they enable upcoming filmmakers to show what intrigues and fascinates them about their world and how they translate this into cinema. To me short films therefore bring a glimpse of the cinema of tomorrow. With this in mind, this year’s Swiss Short program brings an intersection of the most recent short film production in Switzerland and presents the diversity and high quality of its fiction, animation and experimental works. From Japanese men pursuing a donkey, an abused hotel bed moaning about its difficult existence, to the return of the extinct Gypaetus helveticus back home, these films reflect the rich multicultural identity of Switzerland.
